At this point in time, repairing a GM crate engine is not possible, as IMCA has no seal bolts. GM has announced that as of next March 1, they will no longer be issuing crate engine seal bolts to repair broken 602 or 604 crate engines, essentially eliminating the rebuild program and forcing IMCA to explore other options. Am I wrong? I am not an engine guy, nor am I familiar with the IMCA Crate Program as much as you probably are Jet. This shouldn't effect the Northeast Crate program. IMCA does the repairs on their 602 and 604 engines, and GM is not issuing these bolts to IMCA any more as they are a sanctioning body. I think what they were referring to is limiting distribution to sanctioning bodies, and only to certified engine repair/freshening facilities and STAMPING the bolts for authenticity. Drivers who don’t maintain their engine will find themselves stuck with an engine that possibly can’t be rebuilt. The recent addition of rev limiters to our crate engine divisions makes even more sense now because they limit abuse or misuse of the engine.
